What is up everyone!!! It has been a hot minute since I’ve written up a post (about a year but who’s keeping track…) SO much has been going on over here in the glam life of myself, but I am finally back at it and I am so excited to start sharing all of the new stuff I have planned for you guys!
As I’m welcoming myself back into the blogging community, I have deliberated for weeks on what I wanted my first post back to be about. Should I talk about my favorite foundation? favorite eye shadows? my go to summer makeup look? and then it dawned on me, I have spent SO much of my time talking about all things beauty but I haven’t touched on what’s most important, inner beauty and self happiness, because let’s face it, a happy woman is a beautiful woman. Now, I know this is totally different than the content I normally share so I’m feeling a little vulnerable, but regardless I hope you enjoy!
I am now officially one year out of college (HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?!) and I feel like I have learned soo much about myself and what makes me happy, that I had to share my experience in hopes that I can help someone else who is experiencing the exact same things I did.
So let’s rewind to about a year ago. Fresh out of college, no idea what I wanted to do but just knew that I wanted to be successful and make a boat load of money (lol, of course). I had an amazing job that I was super excited about until one day an even better opportunity fell into my lap. Now let me define why I thought it was so much better, it wasn’t entry level, and it paid way more money. At the time I knew this job wasn’t my passion but I also knew I wanted the bigger paycheck. So I accepted the position, started the job, and was COMPLETELY MISERABLE.
Here I am a year later, free of the job, welcoming in something I’m way more excited about and I couldn’t be happier. I know you’re probably wondering, what does this have anything to do with me and my self happiness? Well, what I want to get across is for so long I portrayed my own success by how much money I was making and by what everyone else thought about what I was doing. Now don’t get me wrong, I still love my money, I wouldn’t be living the glam life if It wasn’t for my hustle, but I’m here to tell you that your success is not based on the thought of others, it’s not about how many figures you have next to the dollar sign, it’s about YOU! No one defines your success other than yourself.
Too often we submerge ourselves into things we know we don’t want to do, but we do it because society tells us it’s what right. Well, ask yourself this; Is society going to bed with you every single night as you’re lying there sleepless because you’re so stressed about how much you hate your job? No. Is society there helping you with your anxiety on your way to work in the morning? No! My point is, people can say what they want, everyone is always going to have an opinion and it’s not always going to be what you want to hear, but are you going to let that opinion get in the way of your happiness? Like hell you are!! You hate your job? QUIT and find something you love. You want to move to an island and eat shaved ice forever? DO IT!!.. maybe don’t do that one, but you get what I’m trying to say here.
Don’t continue to do something you hate because you’re scared of what someone will think if you leave. Do what you love and strut your stuff proudly. What’s most important is you. Your happiness, your self-love, and your success that you define in whichever way you want. Don’t let the voices around you influence your choices. Make those choices because it’s what you want to do and because it’s what is making you happy. Like I said, in the end the only thing that matters is yourself, and I promise you the second you start living your life for you, everything else around you will fall into place.
Until next time my loves!
